CHANDIGARH: The Education Department of Chandigarh has introduced a digital attendance alert framework across 111 government schools, aimed at curbing class bunking and boosting classroom attendance. Under the newly implemented School Management Information System mechanism, an automated SMS reaches parents immediately after a student’s absence is logged in the official portal. The real-time notification system addresses period-skipping and unauthorized absences, particularly among senior classes where students previously managed to conceal attendance gaps from their families.
Official assessments indicate that the instant alert process has created a strong deterrent against missing classes, as students are aware that any absence triggers immediate home notification. School Education Director Nitish Singla affirmed that the primary objective of the initiative is to elevate learning standards by maximizing classroom attendance and bridging communication between parents and school administrators. Education officials declared that feedback from parents and teachers remains overwhelmingly positive, with the system establishing a reliable structure for student monitoring across the UT.
