Chandigarh, July 18: The opposition’s political credibility faced sharp criticism on Friday as the ruling administration characterized recent protest announcements as mere deceptive rhetoric. Media Incharge Baltej Pannu declared that the leadership of the Shiromani Akali Dal lacks the deep public commitment and mobilization experience required to lead genuine grassroots movements.
The state leadership noted that the Akali Dal has a prolonged history of shifting away from its public promises after assuming office. Representatives recalled that instead of establishing promised independent investigative bodies during their tenure, older administrations frequently allowed administrative pressure to be placed on local human rights advocates and community activists.
“The Akali Dal has conveniently forgotten its own promise. Even during the party’s recent core committee meeting, there was no discussion whatsoever about the proposed Dharam Yudh Morcha,” Baltej Pannu stated.
The media incharge affirmed that during the previous decade of Akali-BJP rule, regional welfare parameters declined significantly while the state’s youth faced an expanding substance crisis. He maintained that even during critical situations involving public unrest, the top leadership often avoided direct administrative responsibility.
The administration further stated that previous leaders had to seek judicial bail in connection with past oversight failures, as noted in various regional court proceedings. Baltej Pannu asserted that the population remains fully aware of how previous cabinets were managed to benefit specific family networks rather than the public interest.
“It is ironic that Sukhbir Badal is today speaking about the seriousness of the 2015 sacrilege incidents when it was his own government that failed to protect religious sentiments and allowed evidence to be destroyed instead of ensuring justice,” the media head declared.
