NEW DELHI, AUGUST 18: The Aam Aadmi Party mounted a counter-offensive against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day address, accusing the central government of attempting to intimidate students and citizens raising concerns over administrative lapses. Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh declared that young citizens demanding systemic fixes in education and employment are being unfairly maligned.
“The Prime Minister cannot tolerate the fact that the people, youth, small children, farmers, and the mothers and sisters of this country have started raising their voices for themselves,” Singh stated during a media address.
Addressing the Prime Minister’s terminology directly, the Rajya Sabha MP questioned whether students demanding basic amenities and examination integrity deserve such classifications.
“Prime Minister, whom do you call a ‘dimaagi naxal’? The young people who are saying that paper leaks should stop in the country and that we should be given employment?” Singh stated, citing grievances over collapsing school roofs and poor mid-day meal quality.
The senior leader asserted that public agitation among the youth stems from systemic governance issues, advising young protesters and activists not to yield to central pressure.
“I want to tell the youth, especially those who are running the movement to fix schools, that CJP people should not be afraid, should not bow down, should keep fighting and keep moving forward,” Singh stated.
Turning the accusation back toward the ruling party, the AAP MP claimed that political entities fostering social division represent the true disruptive elements in the country.
“The real ‘dimaagi naxal’ are the people in the BJP who killed Abdul’s father,” Singh stated, adding that those filing cases against citizens demanding better public schools fit the label.
AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal reinforced the party’s stance, affirming that demanding good governance and corruption-free public life remains a patriotic act. Kejriwal stated that if working for better schools, healthcare, and infrastructure earns the tag of a “dimaagi Naxal,” he accepts the description with pride while continuing to oppose central policies that harm national interest.
