CHANDIGARH, August 12 — Senior parliamentarian Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer and state legislator Amritpal Singh Sukhanand have been selected to direct the election strategy for the Association of Students for Alternative Politics in the upcoming Panjab University Campus Students’ Council polls. The announcement marks the official commencement of campaign activities as the campus prepares for student body voting expected next month.
The party leadership expressed firm confidence in the newly appointed campaign stewards, citing their extensive experience and strong connections with young scholars across Punjab. State organizers held comprehensive planning meetings with former office-bearers to establish a unified campaign structure tailored to student priorities.
Addressing media representatives in Chandigarh, MLA Amritpal Singh Sukhanand stated that student politics plays an essential role in cultivating dedicated public servants who possess a clear understanding of civic needs.
“Irrespective of the stream or trade chosen by a student, AAP stands by every student,” declared Amritpal Singh Sukhanand. “Our goal is to create an environment at Panjab University where students from across the region can emerge as capable and honest political leaders.”
Beyond campus leadership development, the student wing’s platform centers on resolving practical day-to-day student concerns, including safety infrastructure, cleanliness, and residential hostel facilities. The platform also reflects broader concerns regarding national examination stability, where student activists have consistently advocated for reforms to safeguard academic career prospects for youth nationwide.
Sukhanand maintained that the party’s approach successfully dismantles traditional barriers that historically distanced young people from democratic participation, offering students a transparent and supportive platform to address institutional and educational challenges.
