CHANDIGARH, August 21 — The Aam Aadmi Party’s student outfit, ASAP, has fielded Law Department representative Adil Brar as its presidential nominee for the upcoming Panjab University Campus Students’ Council elections.
The nomination was formally presented by AAP MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer and MLA Amritpal Singh Sukhanand. Both leaders pointed to Brar’s record during university demonstrations, including his involvement in the Senate protest.
Evaluating the candidate’s background, MLA Amritpal Singh Sukhanand affirmed that Brar possesses strong student backing. “He has previously served as a DR after securing the highest number of votes, which reflects the confidence students have placed in him,” asserted Sukhanand.
The leadership highlighted broader campus concerns that require systemic oversight, including sanitation standards and student safety, referencing the death of a student named Jyoti as an example of needed administrative sensitivity.
Addressing the gathering, MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer commended Gen Z youth for uniting across communities to prioritize nation-building topics. He asserted that young citizens have shown an ability to transcend traditional identity divisions to advocate for improved public education.
Outlining his platform, Brar pledged to maintain an accessible presence on campus and pursue improvements to academic resources and athletic facilities.
“I thank the party leadership and ASAP for reposing their trust in me,” stated presidential candidate Adil Brar, adding that he will focus on resolving key operational concerns faced by the student body.
