AAP Warns BJP, Congress Against Twisting Court-Backed Forensic Findings

Ministers say judicial record cannot be reinterpreted for political messaging

Chandigarh, Jan. 17, 2026: The Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday cautioned BJP and Congress leaders against what it described as attempts to reinterpret a forensic report that has already been taken on record by a court in the case involving a doctored video of AAP leader Atishi.

Addressing remarks by BJP Punjab president Sunil Jakhar, AAP Punjab president Aman Arora said the forensic findings are part of a judicial order and not a matter of political opinion. He said raising doubts about those findings effectively amounts to questioning a court’s recorded conclusion.

Arora said the court reviewed forensic reports submitted by the State Forensic Science Laboratory and recorded that the viral clip was manipulated. The court also noted that the alleged objectionable word was absent from the original audio, following which directions were issued to take down and block the video across social media platforms.

“This is not a dispute between political parties,” Arora said. “When a court records a forensic finding, denying it is denying the authority of the judicial process.”

AAP minister Laljit Singh Bhullar said efforts to revive the controversy through selective claims on social media cannot change what has already been placed on record. “Repeating a false claim does not alter a judicially recorded fact,” Bhullar said. “The court’s conclusion is based on forensic evidence, not political narratives.”

Reacting to a statement by Congress leader Pargat Singh, Bhullar said bringing religious emotions into the issue was inappropriate. “Using Sikh sentiments to defend manipulated content is deeply irresponsible,” he said. “The community deserves honesty and accountability, not distorted material circulated for political mileage.”

AAP leaders said democratic conduct requires political parties to respect court orders and forensic findings, even when those conclusions do not align with partisan interests.
