Amritsar, June 27: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has been directed by Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargaj to file a criminal case in Amritsar against Uttarakhand Kranti Dal leader Ashish Negi over a viral video targeting the Sikh community. The directives come amid growing concerns regarding the security of pilgrims traveling to historical shrines in the hill state.
The Jathedar stated that the controversial footage clearly exposes deep-rooted animosity from disruptive factions aiming to fracture societal brotherhood. He urged the Uttarakhand administration to act swiftly against those fostering inter-community friction and to guarantee unhindered access for all devotees.
Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargaj affirmed that the historical contributions of the community cannot be minimized by hate speech.
“Such expressions could have serious consequences. These individuals pose a serious threat to the country’s peace, harmony, and communal brotherhood,” the Akal Takht Jathedar asserted.
He maintained that the local authorities must take a firm stand against elements attempting to disrupt peace.
According to the temporal head, recent incidents reveal a troubling pattern where Sikh visitors are subjected to harassment regarding their religious vestments and Kakaars. The Jathedar declared that what began as isolated altercations over religious symbols has been intentionally transformed into communal tension. While urging the administration to deploy necessary safeguards, he cautioned the public to maintain absolute composure and avoid reactionary behavior in the face of deliberate hostility.
