Armoury Breach Triggers ASI Suspension

A thorough audit reveals thirty-two civilian firearms missing from Sector 8 police station

Faridabad, June 27: An Assistant Sub-Inspector has been placed under suspension after a detailed audit revealed that thirty-two civilian-owned licensed weapons are missing from the Sector 8 police station armoury in Faridabad. Police Commissioner Satender Kumar Gupta ordered the immediate suspension of the malkhana in-charge, Bijendra Singh, alongside a formal criminal case for theft. The missing inventory consists of various personal firearms, including premium foreign-made models with substantial market value.

The department noted that the tracking down of these assets is of paramount importance to ensure public safety and prevent any unauthorized usage. Internal intelligence suggests a possibility that the firearms were transported and sold outside the immediate jurisdiction, specifically targeting buyers in Noida, Rajasthan, and adjacent Delhi-NCR sectors.

Local citizens had originally handed over these firearms to the police station for standard safekeeping, expecting them to be returned upon request. The issue was detected during a routine administrative review of the station’s storage facility. Initial counts pointed to a smaller deficit of thirteen items, but a comprehensive follow-up scrutiny exposed the full extent of the missing property.

Security personnel are now conducting operations under strict confidentiality protocols to track the missing items. The primary objective remains the total recovery of the cache to avoid further complications.

“The matter is under investigation. Whoever played a role in the theft of the weapons will not be spared,” asserted Satender Kumar Gupta, Police Commissioner.
