Bathinda, June 27: A final-year college student has been arrested for allegedly masterminding a petrol bomb attack on a local homeopathic clinic after being lured by foreign handlers with promises of money. The Bathinda police secured the arrest of the prime accused, who worked alongside two previously detained accomplices to execute the June 22 night assault.
The rapid progression of the case underscores the commitment of the police to counter organized crime and maintain regional stability. The investigation opened up new leads showing that the suspect maintained regular communication with an overseas individual identified as Shahzad Bhatti. This handler reportedly used international numbers to coordinate the logistics and offered monetary incentives for the execution of the crime.
According to law enforcement profiles, the arrested youth is Sandeep Singh, alias Billa, hailing from the Khuian Sarwar area of Fazilka district. Following his arrest, police personnel presented him before the court to secure custody for further questioning. The ongoing interrogation aims to map out the entire communication trail and expose the full dimensions of the conspiracy.
The operational teams consider this development a major success in neutralizing localized threats funded from abroad. Further disclosures are anticipated as the department deepens its scrutiny of the suspect’s digital footprints.
“This latest arrest is being considered a major breakthrough in the police investigation,” affirmed SP Heena Gupta.
