Akali leader calls for halt to synthetic videos of Sri Darbar Sahib

Community advised to exercise discernment as AI content rises

by TheReportingTimes

New Delhi, March 17: Paramjit Singh Sarna, head of the Delhi Akali unit, has advised the community to refrain from amplifying AI-generated depictions of Sri Darbar Sahib. Sarna affirmed that the Sikh community must remain vigilant against the potential for digital tools to misrepresent sacred spaces.

The directive comes after Sarna engaged with experts from the SGPC’s designated AI sub-committee. He stated that the consequences of these emerging technologies extend beyond simple videos, requiring a higher level of discernment from social media users.

“The sanctity of Sri Darbar Sahib cannot be left vulnerable to distortion,” Sarna maintained. He affirmed that even when shared without malice, synthetic media can lead to a long-term misrepresentation of the site’s traditional image.

Sarna declared that the responsibility for preserving the integrity of sacred depictions lies with the community. He asserted that a more deliberate approach is necessary to ensure that religious reverence is not compromised by the rapid adoption of new digital tools.
