Amritsar Police Busts Drug Racket, Seizes Over 5 Kg Heroin

by TheReportingTimes

Amritsar, March 23 — Continuing its crackdown on drug trafficking, Amritsar Police seized 5.2 kg of heroin and arrested four individuals, including a woman who allegedly smuggled drugs while posing as a police officer.

Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said the CIA staff raided Chheharta and apprehended Mandeep Kaur, Alam Arora, and Manmeet alias Golu. The identity of the fourth accused has been withheld.

Investigations revealed that Mandeep Kaur, after her husband’s death, partnered with her lover in the drug trade, roping in Arora and Golu. Shockingly, she allegedly used a police uniform to avoid suspicion while transporting heroin from Pakistan to Punjab.

Police, acting on a tip-off, tightened their surveillance on Mandeep, leading to the arrests. During the raid, her phone revealed evidence of large-scale smuggling operations.

Due to Mandeep’s poor health, authorities skipped her media trial. The police have registered a case against the four accused and launched a deeper probe into the drug network.
