MANDI GOBINDGARH, FEB 5: Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema announced on Thursday that the Aam Aadmi Party is on track for a decisive win in the 2027 Assembly elections. His remarks came during a ceremony where prominent Taksali Akali figures, including Rakesh Sofat and former councillor Kamaljit Kaur Bhambri, along with Sukhwinder Singh Bhambri, officially joined the party.
The Minister said the ongoing trend of leaders from rival parties switching to AAP serves as a testament to the government’s governance model. He noted that the public’s trust remains high because the administration has remained focused on welfare and safety since taking office.
“The state’s intelligent voters are happy with the AAP government’s people-friendly policies and have made up their minds to re-elect it,” Cheema said. He attributed this sentiment to the tangible results of various state programs, particularly in the healthcare and security sectors.
During the interaction, the Minister said that the health insurance cover of Rs 10 lakh per family has acted as a boon for the residents of Punjab. He also remarked on the success of the “War Against Drugs” initiative, stating that it has been beneficial in removing peddlers from the streets and facilitating the rehabilitation of addicts. The Minister further mentioned that the crackdown on organized crime has significantly strengthened the security framework of the state.
The new inductees expressed their commitment to the party’s vision for the Amloh region. Sukhwinder Singh Bhambri stated that his focus would be on utilizing his political experience to benefit the general public rather than seeking office.
“I will dedicate my experience to public service and will unite voters and supporters to further strengthen the party in Amloh constituency,” Bhambri said. He added that his decision to join was unconditional and aimed purely at contributing to the state’s development through the AAP platform.
