Mohali, Feb 5: A high-level departmental inquiry is underway into the unauthorized sale of prime real estate belonging to Gurdwara Sri Amb Sahib Patshahi Satvin. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee took swift action by suspending the gurdwara manager, Rajinder Singh, after reports surfaced that institutional land was sold significantly below its estimated market worth.
Records indicate the transaction for the Sector 101 property was finalized at the Mohali sub-registrar office late last year for Rs 1.32 crore. However, local representatives and SAD Mohali in-charge Parvinder Singh Sohana alerted leadership that the 1-bigha plot carries a potential valuation of up to Rs 20 crore.
SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami stated that the organization will not tolerate conduct that harms the integrity of the committee. “Rajinder Singh, who has brought disrepute to the Sikh institution, has been suspended,” Dhami said. He further mentioned that the scope of the investigation would expand if necessary, stating, “If the involvement of any other individual is found, action would be initiated against him too.”
The newly formed five-member probe team is tasked with examining how the fraudulent deal was executed. This administrative crackdown follows a formal complaint by village dwellers and committee members who sought intervention to protect the gurdwara’s assets from undervalued private sales.
