Mansa/Ludhaina, May 13: The Punjab School Education Board reported a slight increase in the state’s pass percentage for Class 12, reaching 91.46% for the current session. The results, declared Wednesday, showcased exceptional individual performances with three students scoring 100% marks. Supneet Kaur of Mansa emerged as the leading candidate in the science stream, while Ludhiana’s Suhani Chauhan and Diwanshi secured the top spots in humanities.

Board officials declared that since the top three students earned identical marks, age was utilized as the determining factor for final rankings. The data affirmed that non-government schools performed slightly better than government institutions, recording a 92.68% pass rate. Aided schools registered a lower success rate of 88.44%.

“Punjab’s educational landscape shows little to differentiate between urban and rural students,” a board representative stated. While urban centers recorded 91.24%, rural students maintained a success rate of 91.63%. The report further maintained that 272 students secured positions in the state merit list, with Patiala contributing the highest number of top-performing individuals.

The results highlighted that 5,109 students failed the annual examinations. In Mohali, the pass percentage reached 93.86%, with four female students from the district earning places on the state merit list. The board declared that while Amritsar and Pathankot excelled in overall percentages, Pathankot notably had no students represented in the top 278 merit positions.
