Chandigarh, May 13: Punjab government moved four senior IAS officers to new roles on Tuesday. The changes come at a time when the state is observing the election code of conduct for civic body polls. Ramveer, an IAS officer of the state cadre, will now lead the Jalandhar Division as Commissioner while managing the Water Supply and Sanitation portfolio.
Ghanshyam Thori was given expanded duties, including the oversight of the Health and Family Welfare Department and the National Health Mission in the state. He is also set to manage the Medical Education and Research Department as Secretary. The government affirmed that these appointments take effect immediately to maintain the momentum of public health and infrastructure projects.
Puneet Goyal has transitioned into the role of Special Secretary and Director of the Information and Public Relations Department. In the same order, Akshita Gupta was designated as the Additional Deputy Commissioner for the Rupnagar district.
The administration maintained that the transfers were necessary for the efficient delivery of government services. “These postings reflect the government’s focus on aligning experienced officers with priority sectors,” a department spokesperson declared. Officials noted that the reordering of responsibilities was conducted in accordance with administrative necessity.
