Security Operations Intesified State-wide

Hawala Channels Targetable Under New Crackdown

CHANDIGARH, JUNE 3 — To counter cross-border narco-terrorism financial routes, law enforcement agencies are tracking illicit currency networks operating through international corridors.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav announced during a high-level virtual security conference that state forces are systematically intercepting hidden financial systems used to store and transfer narcotics profits. The strategy aims to paralyze illegal operators moving funds through Middle Eastern hubs into Pakistan.

The policy shift forms part of a broader mandate to enhance domestic security, backed by structural field changes including expanded street presence, dynamic vehicular reviews, and community-level monitoring setups.

“These networks channelizing the funds of the drug trade will be completely dismantled, and the perpetrators will be brought to justice swiftly,” Yadav maintained, describing the ongoing investigative focus.

The administrative meeting reviewed data from the state’s flagship enforcement structures, focusing on the specialized campaign against illicit cartels, titled ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, alongside parallel crackdowns on criminal syndicates under ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’. Top supervisory officers, range deputy inspectors general, and district administrators participated in the digital session to synchronize regional protective tactics.

Operational changes require local security chiefs to establish highly visible check positions to deter illegal activity within rural and urban jurisdictions.

“Maximum vehicles should be thoroughly checked at these nakas, and mobile patrolling must be intensified to deter criminal elements,” Yadav asserted, adding that a high volume of personnel must remain deployed directly in public spaces to ensure local safety.

The policing framework also calls for a shift toward community-centered operations. District officers were directed to build cooperative communication links with local citizen blocks, resident associations, and regional village defense committees. State authorities noted that these joint civic initiatives are designed to improve communication channels and bolster transparent, public-facing security systems across the state.
