Ludhiana, August 13: A severe road accident in Ludhiana’s Raikot sector resulted in the deaths of three political figures after their automobile crashed into a pond near Bassian village during the early hours of Thursday. Law enforcement officials identified the deceased as AAP leaders Balkar Singh, Vishal, and Sandeep, all reportedly close associates of Punjab Minister Harpal Singh Cheema.

The five individuals were making an overnight journey from Nakodar to Dirba when the vehicle lost control around 1:15 am and veered off the road. Two of the passengers successfully exited the submerged vehicle and escaped without fatal injuries before local authorities arrived to extract the remaining occupants.

“An investigation is actively underway to establish the precise sequence of events that caused the vehicle to plunge into the pond,” police officials stated while summarizing the ongoing technical examination.

Rescue personnel dispatched to the location pulled the vehicle and the victims from the water shortly after being alerted to the accident. Investigating officers are currently examining physical evidence at the crash site and checking surrounding routes to determine if an impact with another vehicle caused the driver to lose control.
