INDIA Bloc Delegation Stopped En Route to Election Authority

Delhi Police Intervene During Extended Standoff Involving Senior Parliamentarians in New Delhi

by TheReportingTimes

NEW DELHI, OCT 7: A day-long political confrontation in the central national capital concluded on Tuesday evening as senior Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were taken into police custody from Akashvani Bhawan after maintaining an eight-hour sit-in inside the facility.

Law enforcement officials stated that roughly 260 participants, including 10 Members of Parliament, were taken into custody during the alliance’s organized procession toward the Election Commission of India. A sizable gathering of supporters outside the broadcasting house was similarly dispersed and taken into custody as police cleared the area.

The march, which originally comprised over 300 parliamentary delegation members heading toward Nirvachan Sadan, was halted by police barricades. In response to the initial containment efforts, the Leader of Opposition and the party general secretary altered their course and entered Akashvani Bhawan rather than waiting for transport with other detained lawmakers.

Throughout the afternoon, the senior leaders and accompanying party workers stayed within the complex to press their demands. They affirmed that the march should be permitted to reach its destination at Nirvachan Sadan or that security agencies should allocate a designated venue in Delhi for their continuing demonstration.
