Amritsar, March 31: A forensic probe is currently active at the Bhindi Saida police station under the Amritsar Rural command after an explosive object was hurled into the complex late Sunday night. The facility was immediately sealed off to the public as investigators began reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area to track two suspects believed to be traveling by motorcycle.
While local residents reported hearing a significant explosion, police officials maintained that the device caused only minor damage to property and no loss of life. The attack adds to a series of similar strikes on security installations in Gurdaspur and Amritsar that have prompted a high state of vigilance across the state.
Addressing the media regarding the timeline of the event, DSP Gurinderpal Singh Nagra noted that the sound was first detected by the station’s night staff.
“The exact nature of the explosion could be ascertained only after a forensic examination,” Nagra maintained. “Forensic teams have arrived to collect evidence.”
Investigative agencies have previously identified the use of hand grenades and low-intensity devices in these types of provocations. Officials stated that these incidents are often linked to networks attempting to target police infrastructure without causing mass casualties.
Commenting on the security situation, PPCC President Amrinder Singh Raja Warring affirmed that the state must act to reassure the public. He stated that the government needs to implement stronger measures to prevent such recurring threats in the border belt. A comprehensive report on the Bhindi Saida incident is expected following the completion of the forensic analysis.
