Bomb threat triggers search operation at Ambala Court

Specialized squads find no explosives

by TheReportingTimes

Ambala, Feb 6: The Ambala district court complex was placed under a security blanket on Friday after a court official received an email threatening a bomb blast on the premises. Specialized units, including the bomb disposal squad and sniffer dog teams, carried out an extensive search of the entire area, though no suspicious objects were recovered.

The threat prompted an immediate change in security protocols, with police restricting access to the judicial complex. Visitors were subjected to rigorous screening through metal detectors, and entry was strictly limited to those carrying valid identification cards.

SHO Ambala City Police station Suresh Kumar noted that the response was swift to ensure the safety of the public and staff. “After the bomb threat email, sniffer dogs, bomb disposal squads, and other specialised units were immediately deployed in the court premises,” Kumar said. He further mentioned that nothing suspicious was recovered during the detailed inspection.

This incident follows a series of similar hoax threats targeting various government and educational institutions in the region. Earlier this week, three local schools were searched after receiving threatening emails, and similar incidents were reported last month at the Ambala Deputy Commissioner’s office and other schools in Ambala Cantt and Ambala City.

Law enforcement officials confirmed that all previous threats had turned out to be hoaxes. Despite this, authorities took the Friday threat seriously, maintaining a high alert until the complex was cleared. Suresh Kumar directly said that despite the thorough sweep, the premises were found to be safe.
