Can You Mix Ghee with Coffee? Nutritionists Say Yes — and Here’s Why

by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh/New Delhi, November 2: A spoonful of ghee in your morning coffee might sound unusual, but wellness experts say the blend — often called “bullet coffee” — can offer surprising health benefits when consumed in moderation.

According to nutritionists, adding pure cow ghee to black coffee creates a slow-energy drink that keeps you fuller for longer. “Ghee provides healthy fats that help stabilise caffeine absorption, preventing the jittery spikes and sudden crashes often associated with plain coffee,” explains Delhi-based diet consultant Gargi Sharma.

The combination, popularised by fitness circles, is said to aid metabolism and mental focus. “It’s especially useful for people following low-carb or ketogenic diets,” Sharma adds, “as it supports fat metabolism and sustained energy.”

However, experts caution that not everyone should make it a daily ritual. Excess ghee can increase calorie intake and may not suit individuals with high cholesterol or digestive issues.

Health professionals recommend using one teaspoon of pure, unsalted ghee in black coffee — ideally once a day and not as a meal replacement.

In essence, while traditionalists may still prefer their coffee plain, the ghee-infused version has earned its place among modern wellness habits — a small swirl of ancient fat in a cup of modern caffeine.
