Chandigarh, Jan 20: Punjab is set to roll out the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana on January 22, 2026, providing cashless medical treatment worth up to ₹10 lakh per family. Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh confirmed the launch date, noting that the scheme is designed to offer universal health coverage without any fees for the beneficiaries.

The Health Minister mentioned that strict directives have been issued to prevent any middleman from exploiting the public during the registration phase. He noted that recent reports of illegal charging in parts of the state were met with immediate disciplinary action, including the cancellation of licenses.

The administration is using a token-based system to ensure every household is covered systematically.

“Anyone who makes fake health cards or charges people in the name of this scheme has already been arrested by the Bhagwant Mann government,” the Minister said. He noted that the government’s priority is to ensure that the benefits of the ₹10 lakh insurance reach the common man without any hurdles or illegal costs.

The process has been simplified to ensure high participation across the state. Volunteers will be visiting homes to assist with the initial steps, ensuring that residents only need basic identification to secure their health cards. The Health Minister said that the Mann government is dedicated to building a healthcare model that is both people-centric and free from corruption.
