Hyderabad, July 18: An alleged plot involving the sale of a two-week-old baby for 1 lakh rupees was uncovered in Mahabubnagar district, leading to criminal charges against two intermediaries. The incident, which was initially reported by the parents as a residential theft, triggered a deeper inquiry by regional child development teams. Police departments have registered a formal case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and are working to determine the full scope of the financial arrangement.
The discrepancy was discovered after local welfare officers scrutinized the timeline provided by the family. The parents, Keshavulu and Neelamma, maintained that the infant was taken from their home in the Telugugudeni area during a brief absence. Suspicions raised by the Integrated Child Development Services during a routine check led to a detailed review, exposing the alleged transaction and resulting in an immediate police notification.
Local law enforcement promptly filed charges against the two men accused of facilitating the abduction and sale. The accused, identified as Tarun and Bheemiah, currently remain at large as police teams conduct raids to secure their arrest. The case has been officially registered under Section 137 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, covering kidnapping offenses.
