Moga, June 30: Nearly 80 percent of agricultural fields across Punjab have been successfully connected to canal water irrigation, with another 7,000 kilometres of pipeline scheduled for installation by the close of the year. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced the development timeline during a well-attended Lok Milni gathering in Bhallur, Moga, where he also presented a 51 lakh rupee cheque for village development.
The administration’s focus on rural infrastructure runs parallel to its environmental sustainability efforts. Alongside pipe delivery systems, the government has set up active recharge points along riverbeds and canals, which have successfully raised local groundwater levels by two to four metres.
“The traditional political parties continuously try to defame me through one accusation or another,” Chief Minister Mann maintained while reflecting on the public response to his governance. “However, the sangat is wise and the people are supreme. These individuals are acting out of arrogance because they have no real issue left to raise against me. Whenever I visit villages, community gatherings and public meetings, huge crowds gather.”
The ongoing developmental push stands in contrast to the policies of prior administrations, which the Chief Minister noted had failed to expand canal water access for ordinary citizens. The current model prioritizes returning tax revenues back to the public through upgraded schools, toll plaza closures saving 70 lakh rupees daily, and comprehensive medical coverage via the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna.
State governance has focused heavily on human welfare alongside rural infrastructure. The ongoing anti-drug campaign has disrupted illicit supply chains, while the education sector has seen primary and middle schools transformed into high-performing educational hubs that outpace major states across the country.
The Chief Minister concluded that the public will continue to reject traditional political factions that previously mismanaged state resources, choosing instead to sustain the current momentum of growth, rural empowerment, and transparent administration.
