Cockroach Janta Party Leaders Sent to Jail

Magistrate Cites Risk of Repeated Violations Following Unauthorized Protest Entry

by TheReportingTimes

NEW DELHI, OCT 14: A Delhi magistrate has ordered five days of judicial custody for prominent political activists Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka following an unsanctioned demonstration at Jantar Mantar.

Police departments reported that fourteen members of the Cockroach Janta Party were taken into custody after allegedly bypassing restrictions through private land and obstructing law enforcement personnel.

The confrontation unfolded when the group attempted to assemble at the site despite regulations removing its designation as an active protest venue.

Following the incident, officers registered multiple formal reports and detained key figures under preventive provisions to safeguard public peace. During court proceedings before the Special Executive Magistrate, authorities initiated formal measures under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. The magistrate justified the remand duration by declaring that releasing the individuals could encourage further breaches of law or incite additional disruptions in the capital.
