Congress slams AAP over Amritsar shooting, says law and order “collapsed”

by TheReportingTimes

Amritsar, Nov 18: The fatal shooting at Amritsar’s ISBT on Tuesday sparked sharp political criticism, with Congress MLA Pargat Singh accusing the Aam Aadmi Party government of presiding over a breakdown of law and order in Punjab.

In a post on X, Pargat Singh said, “Not a day passes without violence in Punjab. Today, a man was shot dead in broad daylight at the Amritsar bus stand. When bullets are fired in a public space like a bus terminal, it shows how dangerously law and order has collapsed.”

He said the state was witnessing violent incidents “every city, every single day” and alleged that “Punjab is slipping into a deeply unsafe environment, and the Bhagwant Mann government has pushed the state into this climate of fear.”

The remarks came after Makhan Singh, manager at a transport company owned by BJP leader Ravikaran Singh Kahlon, was shot dead by gangsters at the crowded ISBT. It was the second fatal shooting in the district within two days.

Police said special teams have been deployed and checkpoints strengthened as efforts to trace the shooters continue.
