‘Congress Will Sweep Rural Polls,’ Pargat Singh Tells Villagers

by TheReportingTimes

JALANDHAR, Dec. 11 — Campaigning across several villages in the Jalandhar Cantonment Assembly segment, Congress MLA Pargat Singh on Wednesday accused the Aam Aadmi Party government of sabotaging the upcoming Block Committee and Zila Parishad elections and said voters were firmly with the Congress.

Singh travelled through Qadianwali, Salempur Masand, Jamsher, Bambianwal, Kukkad Pind, Kot Kalan, Sarhali and Kot Khurd, urging residents to back Congress candidates. “AAP is trying to defeat these elections the same way they interfered in the bypolls,” he said to villagers. “But this time, the Congress will win by a landslide.”

He alleged that nomination papers of several Congress candidates were “torn, snatched or rejected without reason,” preventing them from entering the contest. “This is an attempt to crush democratic rights,” Singh said. “But people know what is happening, and they stand with the Congress.”

Singh told voters that the AAP government had “betrayed the trust of Punjabis,” adding: “A befitting reply is coming. The common people are with us.”
