Panchkula, OCT 19: A traffic constable of Haryana Police was killed when a speeding truck broke through a barricade and ran him over near the Chandimandir toll plaza on Saturday night, police said. The constable, identified as Deepak from Jind district, was stationed at a naka to monitor drunken driving around 11 pm.
“The truck driver fled after hitting the constable, but was arrested near ITBP Bhanu soon after,” an official said. The accused has been sent for a drug test, and a case has been filed against him.
Deepak was attached to the Surajpur Traffic Police station in Panchkula. Authorities said a detailed investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the incident and strengthen checkpoint safety.
