New Delhi, Nov 12: CCTV footage released on Tuesday shows the moment an i20 car exploded near Delhi’s Red Fort, leaving onlookers shocked and pedestrians scrambling for safety.
Recorded by a camera at the Red Fort crossing, the video begins with normal traffic flow. Seconds later, a sudden fireball engulfs the frame, followed by screams and people fleeing in every direction.
The explosion, which took place at approximately 6:50 pm on Monday, matched the timing officials had previously confirmed. “The video clearly captures how quickly the chaos unfolded,” a Delhi police official said.
Investigators have identified the vehicle involved as being driven by Dr. Umar Nabi, an assistant professor at Faridabad’s Al-Falah University. Police are examining the footage as part of a broader probe into the cause of the blast.
The CCTV is expected to play a key role in understanding the dynamics of the explosion and in assessing the sequence of events leading up to it, officials added.
