Chandigarh, Oct 19: Representatives from key power employee unions stated that electricity infrastructure developed over several decades through public funds and worker dedication should remain under public stewardship rather than being handed over to private enterprises.
Leaders across multiple organisations asserted that transferring power assets to private hands overlooks the long-term contribution of taxpayers who funded the creation of the system.
Among those who declared opposition to the move were Ashok Goyat, circle secretary of All Haryana Power Corporation Workers Union, and engineer Narayan Prakash, spokesperson for Haryana Power Engineers Association. Manoj Bamla, circle secretary of HEB Workers Union, and Kapoor Singh, circle secretary of SC, ST and BC Welfare Association, similarly expressed their views on the matter.
Further support was affirmed by Bijender Singh Barar, state president of Haryana Power Corporation SC, ST and BC Union, Rajesh Sarpanch, state committee leader of AHPCC Workers Union, and senior leader Pradeep Ranga, who collectively maintained that safeguarding public assets remains a priority for power sector workers.
