Gidderbaha, July 24: Full military honours were accorded to Lance Naik Sukhpreet Singh during his final rites at Buttar Bakhua village in the Gidderbaha Assembly segment. The army personnel passed away following a rockfall during severe weather in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, where he was stationed with his unit.
“The entire community gathered to pay homage as the procession reached his native place,” officials present at the ceremony affirmed.
Subedar Sukhvindar Singh, administrative officials, and former servicemen attended the cremation to honour the soldier’s service. Enlisting in 2019 from a farming family, Sukhpreet Singh had served in the military for nearly eight years. Villagers remembered him as a courteous individual and raised voices urging the administration to establish a memorial gate to commemorate his sacrifice.
