Chandigarh, Sept 14: The state administration has ordered an immediate reallocation of top administrative positions, placing Principal Secretary Gurkirat Kirpal Singh at the head of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited to navigate ongoing energy management challenges. Outgoing CMD Dr. Basant Garg has been posted to oversee the Industry Department as part of the administrative swap executed by the state government. The transition comes as agricultural and industrial sectors demand consistent grid operations following weeks of unscheduled power adjustments caused by restricted coal availability at regional power generation stations.

Addressing concerns raised by industrial groups and farming communities regarding production delays, state officials confirmed that coordinated measures have been established to streamline fuel supply lines and maximize plant output. Industry Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sondh stated that power supply conditions are scheduled to normalize across all sectors starting Tuesday, guaranteeing up to 10 hours of daily power for agricultural operations while ensuring uninterrupted supply to industrial hubs. Government representatives reiterated that operational thermal units are now fully equipped to meet consumer requirements and balance grid loads effectively.
