Mohali, Oct 28: State investigative authorities took a key procedural step on Wednesday as the Punjab Vigilance Bureau presented a 40,000-page supplementary chargesheet in court, expanding the ongoing financial investigation centered on Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia. A state government spokesperson affirmed that the latest findings trace an alleged transaction network totaling Rs 736.96 crore, marking a significant increase from the initial assessment of Rs 540 crore.

The updated findings detail various financial channels examined by the agency, pointing to Rs 161 crore in unaccounted cash deposits, Rs 141 crore transferred through foreign entities, and Rs 236 crore in unexplained deposits within connected companies. The probe team conducted extensive audits of corporate balance sheets, focusing on entities such as Saraya Industries alongside multiple liquor businesses and commercial partners.

An official spokesperson maintained that the agency evaluated both domestic and overseas financial linkages during the extended inquiry. Additionally, case records re-examined logistical support and past connections associated with overseas individuals, including assertions regarding vehicle usage during Majithia’s prior tenure in public office.

The state government affirmed that the filing represents a detailed compilation of banking records, transaction trails, and institutional audits gathered by vigilance officers. The matter remains before the judicial system as authorities move forward with the statutory legal process based on the newly submitted records.
