FATEHGARH SAHIB, June 22 — The state government is set to operationalize its major women empowerment initiative on July 1, introducing direct fiscal aid to provide greater dignity and self-reliance to Punjab’s women. The Maavan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna will provide ₹1,500 monthly to Scheduled Caste women and ₹1,000 monthly to women in the general category, with the first three months of cumulative funds being disbursed together at the start of the month.

The policy announcement was made by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann during a Lok Milni event in Fatehgarh Sahib, where he connected the new welfare scheme to a broader network of public upgrades, including universal healthcare and power provisions. Eligible Dalit beneficiaries will see an initial transfer of ₹4,500, whereas beneficiaries from other categories will receive ₹3,000.

The government stated that this financial strategy is structured to foster long-term gender equity and ensure that families prosper through enhanced female financial independence. The administration also confirmed that current recipients of state social security pensions will face no exclusions and will remain fully eligible for these additional benefits.

“Strengthening women’s financial autonomy is essential for improving household welfare, promoting gender equity and enhancing women’s participation in social and economic decision-making,” Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann asserted. “When women become financially empowered, families prosper and society moves forward.”

The program joins other active state welfare strategies, such as the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, which offers cashless medical treatment up to ₹10 lakh per family, and the ongoing provision of free domestic electricity. The Chief Minister declared that the administration is fully focused on translating the commitments of the public manifesto into functional ground realities.

“The money will be transferred directly into their bank accounts without any middlemen,” Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann affirmed. “Nearly 97% women in Punjab are expected to benefit from this initiative and the Punjab Government has made a budgetary provision of ₹9,300 crore for it.”
