GUWAHATI, May 12— Himanta Biswa Sarma was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Assam for a second consecutive term on Tuesday in a ceremony attended by Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria. The function took place in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, marking the commencement of the NDA government’s third straight term in the state.

Shri Kataria, who previously held the constitutional post of Governor of Assam, was among the prominent guests at the event. He maintained that the leadership in Assam has demonstrated a strong commitment to good governance and socio-economic development. The Governor noted that the administrative coordination established during his time in the state contributed to a common vision for the welfare of the people.
The swearing-in ceremony featured the administration of the oath by Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya. Shri Kataria stated that the event reflected the rich cultural heritage of the North-Eastern region and served as a gathering for eminent dignitaries from across the country. He asserted that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the North-East has emerged as a major hub for national integration.
“Assam continues to achieve new milestones in development and public welfare,” Shri Kataria affirmed while extending his best wishes to the newly sworn-in Chief Minister. He stated that the remarkable progress in the state’s socio-economic landscape is expected to continue during this new term. The Governor noted that the gathering of diverse leaders at the ceremony underscored the collective focus on the state’s future prosperity.
