Patiala, July 2: A coordinated police operation in Patiala has resulted in the arrest of five individuals connected to a high-profile extortion firing case, following a brief armed encounter with law enforcement. Two alleged shooters belonging to the Goldy Dhillon gang were captured after launching an attack on a police party during a chase, while three of their accomplices were taken into custody for providing material support. The breakthrough comes less than a week after an armed assault on a business establishment in Rajpura caused widespread security concerns.
The law enforcement teams neutralised the immediate threat after the fleeing suspects ignored orders to drop their weapons. One of the shooters sustained a bullet wound during the brief exchange of fire before the police teams managed to disarm and overpower the suspects.
“Patiala Police had arrested 19 members of the gang over the past eight months,” Senior Superintendent of Police Varun Sharma affirmed. He stated that the latest successful arrests have effectively dismantled the operational core of the Goldy Dhillon criminal network in the district.
The case originated from a targeted shooting at the Lakshmi Property Dealer office on June 26, which was subsequently used by overseas-based modules to broadcast digital threats against the Rajpura MLA and her family. Local intelligence teams carefully mapped the logistics trail of the attackers to intercept them before they could flee the district.
The authorities have recovered illegal weapons used during the initial assault and the subsequent encounter with the special units. Senior police officials declared that the arrest of the Kapurthala-based shooters, Paramjeet Singh and Jaskaran Singh, remains a vital victory for community safety. They asserted that extensive interrogations are currently proceeding to trace the financial trails and hidden weapon caches of the criminal syndicate.
