Cross-border supply chain disrupted after two local distributors confess during interrogation

Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, July 2: A coordinated investigation by the Bilaspur Police has led to the capture of a key interstate drug supplier operating from Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Punjab. The 21-year-old suspect, identified as Jashanpreet Singh, was taken into custody on July 2 after local distributors exposed his role in running an organized trafficking network that funneled “chitta” into the region. The arrest marks the third major apprehension made by authorities over the last four days in connection with this specific distribution ring.

The ongoing crackdown is part of an intensified regional campaign to sever the logistics networks utilized by out-of-state syndicates. Bilaspur Superintendent of Police Abhishek Dhiman confirmed that the investigation remains highly active as detectives map out the entirety of the network’s financial footprints.

“It was also found that another individual named Nishant Sharma (33), another resident of Mandi was also involved in this network, after which he was arrested on July 1,” Superintendent Dhiman stated. He asserted that Sharma and his associate, Mohit Kumar—who was caught with 14 grams of the drug on June 29—acted as the local faces of the network.

The subsequent confessions of the two Mandi residents allowed authorities to bypass intermediate layers of the organization and target the source of the supply chain. Police teams analyzed mobile records and electronic transfers to verify the source of the contraband before moving in for the arrest.

The local administration has praised the quick execution of the cross-border raid by the specialized police team. Senior law enforcement officials declared that the arrest of Singh will significantly restrict the availability of illicit substances in the district. They asserted that more individuals associated with this trafficking ring are currently being tracked down and will face imminent legal action.
