Four Booked for Fake Class 12 Medical Certificates

by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh, March 21 — Phase-8 police have booked four people, including a Punjab State Education Board (PSEB) employee, for issuing fake Class 12 medical verification certificates, enabling two individuals to obtain D-Pharmacy licences from the Punjab Pharmacy Council.

The accused have been identified as Ajay Kumar Sharma from Mansa, Kuldeep Singh and Kishan Singh from Ferozepur, and Avninderpal Singh, a senior assistant at PSEB’s single window in Mohali. The action followed a complaint by PSEB assistant secretary Harpreet Singh.

According to the complaint, on April 4, 2024, the pharmacy council alerted PSEB about conflicting verification results for the Class 12 medical certificates of Ajay Kumar and Kuldeep Singh. Initially, on July 13, 2023, PSEB confirmed the certificates as genuine. However, a second verification on August 4, 2023, revealed they were fake.

The PSEB joint secretary’s investigation uncovered tampering of records and missing pages from the verification branch register. It was found that Kishan Singh facilitated the creation of fake certificates and a fraudulent verification report. Ajay allegedly paid Kishan ₹65,000 for the forged documents.

Further investigation revealed that Avninderpal received 34 verification cases on August 9, 2023, but made entries for only nine that day. Police are also probing the potential involvement of other PSEB employees.

All four accused have been booked for cheating, forgery, and criminal conspiracy. The investigation is ongoing.
