Hoshiarpur, January 10: Dense fog led to a fatal road accident in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur district on Saturday morning, leaving four men dead after the car they were travelling in collided with a Punjab Roadways bus, police officials said.
The victims were identified as Sukhwinder, Sushil Kumar, Brij Kumar and Arun Kumar, residents of Chalet village in Himachal Pradesh. Another occupant, Amit Kumar, was injured and has been admitted to the Civil Hospital in Hoshiarpur.
Police said the group was travelling towards Amritsar when the accident occurred near Dosarka on the Hoshiarpur–Dasuya stretch.
“Due to heavy fog, visibility was extremely poor. The driver failed to spot the bus in time, leading to the crash,” said Hariana SHO Sub-Inspector Kiran Singh.
Emergency teams reached the spot soon after the accident. Police said the bodies were sent for post-mortem examination and further proceedings are being carried out.
