Gavie Chahal Marches for Safer Roads After Rajvir Jawanda’s Death

by TheReportingTimes

Patiala, October 10: A peace march was held in Patiala on Friday under the leadership of Bollywood actor Gavie Chahal to honour the memory of late Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda, whose recent death after a road mishap in Himachal Pradesh has reignited concerns over stray cattle on highways.

Addressing the gathering, Chahal voiced deep anguish over the artist’s untimely death and called for united efforts to address the persistent issue of stray animals on public roads.

“Many precious lives are lost every day in road accidents caused by stray animals. We must come together to find a lasting solution,” he remarked.

He further criticized the lack of follow-through on earlier discussions about the issue. “Many people have spoken about the stray cattle menace for years, but no real action has been taken on the ground,” Chahal said, adding that authorities must turn words into decisive measures.

Calling Jawanda’s demise a “painful wake-up call,” the actor urged citizens to move beyond condolences and contribute toward a safer environment.

“Instead of merely expressing sorrow, we should act decisively to prevent such tragedies from recurring,” he noted.

Organized by the Gavie Chahal Foundation, the march began from the Mahatma Gandhi statue and culminated at Sewa Singh Thikriwala Chowk. Before the procession started, participants observed a two-minute silence in Jawanda’s remembrance.

As part of this initiative, the Gavie Chahal Foundation has rolled out an online petition on gaviechahalfoundation.com, inviting the public to lend support for stronger policies to control the stray animal population and ensure road safety.

Chahal expressed gratitude for the overwhelming participation in the march, saying the strong turnout reflected people’s shared concern and willingness to bring about change.

Rajvir Jawanda, a popular Punjabi singer and actor, passed away on October 8 after battling severe injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident near Baddi, Himachal Pradesh.

Some reports suggest he lost control of his bike while trying to avoid stray cattle on the road.
