Shimla, Dec 9: Professor Mamta Mokta, a long-time scholar of governance and public administration, has been appointed as a Member of the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission. Her tenure will extend for six years or until she reaches 62.
Mokta currently serves as Dean of Student Welfare at Himachal Pradesh University and leads the Department of Public Administration. Over a career spanning 33 years, she has taught and researched governance systems, administrative reforms, policy processes and models of effective service delivery.
Her academic contributions include seven books and multiple research studies on public administration themes. University officials said her grounding in development administration and innovative governance would strengthen institutional decision-making at the state’s top recruitment body.
The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission, which oversees selection for key government posts, is expected to gain from her experience in both academic and administrative roles, including student welfare and university management.
Colleagues described her appointment as “a natural extension” of her work in improving governance processes and public institutions.
