Phagwara, Dec 4: A man was shot dead during an argument with his friends near Phagwara’s Hadiabad area late Wednesday, according to police. The victim, 30-year-old Avinash Kumar, died instantly after being shot at close range around 10.30pm.
Superintendent of police Madhvi Sharma said Avinash had confronted his friends, including Jaspreet Singh, shortly before the shooting. “Jaspreet was carrying an illegal weapon and he opened fire during the quarrel,” she said. “The bullet went through his neck.” All three suspects escaped in a car soon after.
Avinash was rushed to the civil hospital by his brother, Karan, but doctors declared him dead.
Sharma said police are following digital trails to locate the suspects. “Their movements are being tracked and they will be held soon,” she directly said.
An FIR under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and sections of the Arms Act has been filed.
