Local authorities and defense personnel rush to Dhanaura village after child slips into open shaft

Ambala, June 30: A four-year-old child named Nirbhay is the focus of an intense emergency rescue mission in Ambala’s Dhanaura village following a sudden fall into a 220-foot-deep borewell. On-site medical and rescue teams have lowered a specialized camera into the narrow nine-inch opening to keep a constant watch on the boy’s movements and well-being.

The crisis began during the early hours of Tuesday, around 7 am, when the young boy accompanied his family to nearby agricultural fields and accidentally slipped into the unprotected opening. Local authorities responded swiftly, calling in specialized units from the local police, Army, NDRF, and SDRF to manage the delicate operation.

The regional administration has assured the public that every available resource is being directed toward a safe recovery. Deputy Commissioner Ajay Tomer maintained that multiple contingencies are ready to be executed based on the ground conditions. “The boy slipped into the borewell while playing. The NDRF is trying to rescue him using specialised equipment, while the Army has been deployed with heavy machinery. If the initial rescue attempt is not successful, a parallel pit will be dug,” the official asserted.

Heavy engineering equipment has already begun clearing the surrounding terrain. Community members have gathered near the perimeter to support the family as rescue engineers calibrate their specialized equipment for the deep-vertical extraction.
