Jos Buttler and Sherfane Rutherford’s outstanding partnership helped the Gujarat Titans overcome the Delhi Capitals by seven wickets. In 20 overs, Delhi, batting first, amassed 203 runs at a cost of eight wickets. Gujarat won the match by collecting 204 runs for three wickets in 19.2 overs after Butler struck an undefeated 97 runs in 54 balls with 11 fours and four sixes. Gujarat won the match thanks to a four from Rahul Tewatia. But Butler was unable to reach a century.
GT vs DC: Rutherford and Butler Lead Gujarat’s Charge
Gujarat had a poor start when chasing the objective and quickly lost captain Shubman Gill. Gill scored seven runs before being run out. Following this, Butler and Sai Sudarshan gained control of the squad by adding 60 runs for the second wicket. Despite his strong batting, Sudarshan was removed after amassing 36 runs in 21 balls, including five fours and a six. Then, with outstanding batting, Butler and Rutherford really troubled the Delhi spinners. For the third wicket, Butler and Rutherford combined for 119 runs.
Mukesh Kumar ultimately got rid of Rutherford, who entered the game as an impact player. With three sixes and one four in 34 balls, Rutherford amassed 43 runs. Rutherford’s dismissal brought the match to an exciting conclusion. In the final over, Tewatia was at the crease as Gujarat needed 10 runs to win. After hitting a six off Mitchell Starc’s opening delivery, Tewatia smashed a four on the second ball to end the game. With 11 runs off three balls, Tewatia was still undefeated. Mukesh Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav each took one wicket for Delhi.
