Chandigarh, Dec 2: Punjab constable Gursimran Singh Bains has been selected as an officer in the Indian Air Force’s Flying Branch, a transition the police department called an “extraordinary accomplishment” for the state.

“His determination and confidence carried him through,” Punjab Police Chief said, noting that he had personally guided Bains for nearly two years. “Gursimran, your achievement fills me with pride. I feel on top of the world,” he directly said.

The Mann government said the success aligns with its focus on upgrading the police force and expanding opportunities for personnel through training, skill development and welfare programs. Officials said the environment within the force now enables officers “to grow without limits.”

Punjab Police said mentorship, career counseling and academic support remain central to its internal policy. Officers involved in Bains’ preparation said he received steady encouragement and access to resources as he worked toward the Air Force selection.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann congratulated Bains, saying the achievement “raises Punjab’s pride” and motivates youth across the state to pursue ambitious goals. The story has drawn widespread appreciation on social platforms, where many have called Bains a role model.

Bains will soon take charge as an Air Force officer, closing a remarkable chapter for his family and the Punjab Police. The department said the journey reflects its commitment to nurturing talent and strengthening its workforce.
