Jind, March 7: Tragedy struck a ‘gulal’ manufacturing unit in Jind on Saturday when a fire broke out at the facility’s entry point, claiming the lives of four women. The factory, situated within the Bhaat Colony residential sector of Safidon, became a trap for workers as smoke quickly permeated the building.

Police officials affirmed that emergency responders, assisted by members of the public, had to dismantle a boundary wall to evacuate personnel from the site. Several workers were reportedly seen jumping from the rooftop in a desperate bid to save themselves from the encroaching fire and smoke.

SP Kuldeep Singh noted that the victims were all women, with ages ranging from 36 to 50. He stated that 11 injured survivors were transported to the hospital via ambulances rushed to the scene. “Around 10-11 persons have been injured in the incident and are undergoing treatment at a hospital,” the officer asserted while confirming that the investigation is active.

The fire department managed to douse the flames after pressing several brigades into service. Authorities maintained that while the immediate rescue phase has concluded, the specific trigger for the blaze has yet to be ascertained. Further updates are expected as investigators examine the safety protocols of the manufacturing unit.
