Hope has a universal language: Rahul Gandhi on Democracy

by TheReportingTimes

Colombia/Peru, Oct 5: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, currently touring South America, said Saturday that “hope has a universal language” and that the fight for dignity and democracy transcends borders. Sharing updates from his trip on his YouTube channel, Gandhi detailed his interactions with students, artists, and communities in Colombia and Peru.

“From the vibrant streets in Colombia’s comunas to the classrooms of the University of Medellín, and in heartfelt conversations with students in Lima, Peru, this journey has been filled with warmth, joy, and ideas,” he noted. “I met artists who use colour as resistance, and students who dream fearlessly. Their spirit of creativity and courage was truly inspiring.”

Rahul Gandhi emphasized the common thread of struggle across continents, saying, “At every step, I was reminded that hope speaks a universal language, and that across continents, our fight for dignity and democracy is one and the same.”

The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha is on an over-week-long visit to four Latin American nations — Colombia, Brazil, Peru, and Chile. During the trip, he is expected to meet political leaders, students, and business figures, and hold discussions with presidents and senior officials to strengthen democratic and strategic ties, the party said.
