Chandigarh, Nov 29: Ruling out a smooth path for any BJP–Shiromani Akali Dal alliance before the 2027 polls, MLA Pargat Singh said the two parties cannot come together because “their ideologies do not match.”
“The BJP speaks against Punjab every day,” he said. “It keeps raising the issue of taking Chandigarh. It took over BBMB. It dissolved the Panjab University Senate and tried unsuccessfully to capture it as well. And its record with farmers is well known.”
Singh said these moves make an alliance “inconceivable.” “How will the Akali Dal align with the BJP after all this?” he said.
He also said that five bills “targeting Punjab’s interests” are expected to be cleared in Parliament soon.
“The Centre will take back the land given to farmers under Manmohan Singh through the new national highway bill,” he added.
