Shimla, Dec 6: The Himachal Pradesh government is expanding and modernising its disaster-response infrastructure with new fire stations, more equipment and additional posts, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said on Saturday.
Addressing the 63rd Raising Day of the Home Guards and Civil Defence at Sarogheen, Sukhu said the state has approved four new fire stations, sanctioned 150 posts and added 27 fire tenders. “We are committed to building a stronger, more responsive safety network for Himachal,” he said.
He said ₹55 crore has been earmarked for Fire Services modernisation, while the SDRF has been equipped with drones and other advanced tools worth ₹6 crore for search and aerial surveys.
The Chief Minister also launched the Miracle of Mind mobile app to counter drug abuse and said the state’s forces conducted 708 rescue operations, saved 448 lives and safeguarded property worth ₹2,000 crore. Additional Director General Satwant Atwal Trivedi said nearly 11,000 mock drills and 3,000 awareness camps trained two lakh citizens this year.
