TORONTO, Dec 24— India’s Consulate in Toronto said it is working closely with local authorities to assist the family of Himanshi Khurana, a young Indian national who was found murdered in the Canadian city.
In a post on X on Wednesday, the Consulate said it was “deeply saddened and shocked by the murder of Ms. Himanshi Khurana, a young Indian national, in Toronto.”
“We extend our deepest condolences to her bereaved family during this moment of profound grief,” the statement said.
The Consulate said it has remained in close contact with officials over the past several days and is providing all possible assistance to the family as the investigation continues.
Toronto police earlier confirmed that Khurana, 30, was found dead inside a residence after she was reported missing on Friday night. Authorities said a man known to the victim is wanted in connection with the killing.
Police have identified the suspect as Abdul Ghafoori, 32, of Toronto, and said a Canada-wide warrant has been issued for his arrest on a charge of first-degree murder.
Investigators said the case appears to involve intimate partner violence. The Consulate said it will continue to coordinate with Canadian authorities and provide support to the victim’s family during the legal process.
